Doug Chaplow – Director, Web Development – Washington DC Campus
Doug Chaplow has been involved with the Web and multimedia development for over 15 years. He has been a freelance developer for over 10 years and brings his real world experience to the classroom. Over the years, he has developed projects for Lockheed Martin, the FBI, and the Smithsonian. He has taught web development and lectured around the world to corporate and government institutions. Always tinkering, Doug looks for the latest trends in technology and gadgets and incorporates them into his curriculum. Doug is a graduate of Virginia Tech.
Ben Caplan – Associate Director, Web Design + Development – Waltham Campus
Benjamin has ten years experience in web and graphic design and web development, though his initial training was as a classical artist. He has worked with various agencies, companies and institutions on projects ranging from branding to illustration to web development, including Children’s Hospital Boston, Cambridge Health Alliance, Brandeis University and Harvard University. Benjamin received a dual B.S./B.A. in Biology and Fine Arts from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Kevin A. Wilson
Kevin holds two master’s degrees from Yale and a Ph.D. from the Johns Hopkins University, as well as a B.A. in religion and political science from Carson-Newman College. With more than 10 years of experience in web design and development, he has worked with a number of technologies for both server- and client-side applications. He specializes in ActionScript development on the Flash and Flex platforms. Kevin has extensive experience as an instructor, having taught at universities in Virginia, Iowa, Tennessee, and Lithuania. He runs Upper Case Textual Services, which provides book design, electronic typesetting, and digital conversion for publishers.
Patrick Haney
Patrick Haney is not a sausage. He’s a designer/developer at Hanerino, a design studio in Boston he helped create in 2009. Before starting his own company, Patrick worked at a number of corporations such as Xerox and Kodak as well as universities, most recently Harvard. In his spare time he organizes monthly events for Refresh Boston, an ad-hoc group for folks interested in web-related topics in the Boston area, and speaks at conferences all over the country.
Dan Pettengill
Dan Pettengill has developed, marketed, and sold software and information services for thirty years. Drawing on experience at leading firms including Data Resources, McGraw-Hill, Oracle, and others, Dan’s current work focuses on web and database development and project management. Dan earned an MS in computer science at the University of North Carolina and a BA in economics at Williams College.
Todd Sellon
Todd Sellon is a web application developer well versed in front end and back end technologies with a focus on performance optimization. His experience ranges from cross browser HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to Flash/Flex, PHP, ASP, .NET and Silverlight. Todd is the Co-Founder of Archmage Enterprises, a software development company dedicated to producing editor based solutions for large scale projects, such as web applications and online games. He is a contributing author and instructor at American Graphics Institute, teaching in locations around the United States.
John Selig
John Selig studied Art and Computer Science at Harvard University, and now works as a freelance web designer, and photographer. In his teaching career, he’s worked with students of all ages and has taught everything from programming to video production to Japanese . John enjoys introducing brand new students to digital media.
Mahmoud Arram
Mahmoud Arram graduated from Iowa State University with degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. He was also a graduate student at MIT in 2006- 2007. Mahmoud is currently a co-founder at Sponty; a startup in Cambridge, MA.
Hau Luc
Hau Luc is an IT consultant specializing in web application development. With over 10 years of web development experience, Hau’s knowledge ranges from open source technologies such as PHP and MySQL to Microsoft technologies such as ASP, .Net, and SQL Server. In the early part of his career, Hau consulted with non-profit organizations on how to leverage open source technologies to automate and improve business processes, such as enabling web searches and credit card payment processing. Currently, Hau consults with a global CRM company and have worked with national and international institutions such as an online university, healthcare device provider, international financial services firms, etc.
Han Thai
Han Thai has been a Flash Developer and instructor for 10 years focusing on all aspects of multimedia, motion graphics, and ActionScript development. His personal client list includes Sprint, Liberty Mutual, Talbots, Avon, Samsonite, Genzyme, and Oppenheimer Funds. Aside from this professional client work, Han is currently an instructor with Boston University CDIA, Northeastern University College of Professional Studies, The Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and the Cambridge Center for Adult Education. Han received his undergraduate BS from Northeastern University.
