Sean brings 10 years of software engineering consulting experience to CDIA. He has a Bachelor of Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and a Minor in Computer Science. He began his career in change management and release engineering, and bringing process to solving problems through technology.
As President and CEO of AndPlus Design, Sean has led efforts to develop websites for clients ranging from small businesses to large corporations. He uses business case reasoning to offer software consulting services which produce technical solutions enhancing work flow management as well as supply chain management. He primarily works in the Software as a Service (SaaS) business model and enjoys continually learning through client interaction. His focus includes PHP/MySQL, Perl, XML, XHTML, CSS, and implementing solutions in the spaces involving SEO, SEM, eCommerce and payment processing.
Joel McNamee brings ten years of experience in development to CDIA. After graduating from UMass–Dartmouth with a BS in Computer Engineering and a minor in Mathematics, he began coding embedded software professionally for the consumer electronics group of Gemstar-TV Guide. In 2006, he moved to a Professional Services position as a web developer and implementation engineer at Framingham, MA-based Courion Corporation. Through this position, Joel was not only able to push his technical abilities to new levels, but also gained experience in managing customers and business partners. He is the co-founder, web developer and publicist for a reputable music website, established in 2001, and continues to hone his web development and management skills through a variety of hobbies and professions.
Jim is a freelance web designer and teacher in Washington, DC. Formerly he was Technical Design Manager for National Geographic Digital Media, overseeing the site's visual design and front-end development. During his tenure, he directed three site redesigns, designed a navigation scheme which lowered bounce rates 36%, directed a usability testing lab, and oversaw the design of partnerships with YouTube, iTunes, MySpace and Joost. Before National Geographic, Jim designed infographics for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel newspaper.
Jim’s commercial photography is represented by the National Geographic Image Collection and Getty Images. He teaches with National Geographic Photo Camp, helping inner-city teenagers document their lives and communities. Jim studied photojournalism and web design at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His speaking engagements include the Society for News Design, for NPR and PBS, and UNITY: Journalists of Color.
Dan has been involved in web development for 5+ years. His experience includes both front and back end development for corporate, agency, and startup clients. He believes that lightweight and accessible code starts with taking a clean, simplistic approach. Dan primarily focuses on XHTML/CSS, Javascript, PHP/MySQL and Flash. Lisa Crowley is an active web developer with extensive experience in database development and design. With the advent of the world wide web as a commercial business tool, she has become a specialist in e-Commerce. She holds a BS in Accountancy and MS in Computer Information Systems from Bentley College.
