Digital Filmmaking
Nov 10-14: ReelFest DC hosted at CDIA Washington, DC Campus!
October 14, 2011
From the Press Desk at ReelFest DC:
ReelFest DC is proud to announce Boston University Center for Digital Imaging Arts as an official sponsor. Our mission is to display the work of talented artists from our nation’s capital and all over the globe. We feel that our showcase of films will inspire thought, discussion and an avenue for artists who need a platform.
Boston University Center for Digital Arts is lending their state of the arts facility in Georgetown to the cause. Located in the Foundry Building at 1055 Thomas Jefferson St NW, the Washington, DC campus features full HD projection capability, a comfortable space and the built in value of a scholastic environment in which to host our showcase of cinema and the discussions that will follow.
In order to secure use of the new facility, we had to make a slight shift in the festival dates, pushing back the festivities to November. The festival will now commence with premieres of My America and Amateur Hour on Thursday, November 10th and run though Monday, November 14th.
My America has been hailed by the Boston Globe as, “a shocking drama on the subject of racism in America.” Trailer and synopsis can be found at: http://rodwebber.com/
Amateur Hour was shot entirely in DC, Maryland, and Virginia, and features amazing photography, quirky humor, and a spectacular score that includes additional music provided by Thievery Corporation. Trailers for Amateur Hour: http://vimeo.com/22101465
Additionally, we have a vast array of independent films from everywhere in the world including (but not limited to) New York City, Central America, Russia, Iran and San Francisco. We are thrilled to show these films to the public and engage in discussion about the topics and the work. We will also be hosting additional live entertainment at various locations in Washington, DC. Details on additional festivities will be announced soon.
Sincerely,
ReelFest DC
